This happened at a place I worked. one of the managers said they wouldn’t hire “Spanish” people cause she didn’t want us stealing. (even though plenty of white people stole from us too)

It’s so fucked up. I think I’m so lucky/unlucky that my parents decided to give me a name that doesn’t reflect my ethnicity. They choose Bridget because it sounded pretty and I’m PRETTY damn sure it’s helped me get my job.

I also look racially ambiguous. A lot of people can’t tell if I’m Latina or Indian/Native/Middle Eastern/Mixed/ etc.

^same. i remember once my dad sat me down and told me that we’re lucky about how white we look and seemed and about how the world seems to be getting more racist

Jeez. It’s sad. I don’t think I pass for white but I guess it depends how I present myself and sometimes look. When I’ve had my hair puffy I’d get asked if I was part black, when my hair straightened I’d be asked on some rare occasions if I were greek/Italian, if I have my hair curly/wavy I get asked A LOT if I’m middle eastern, Indian, Native, etc… a lot of times by other Latinos!  However I think I have a lot of privilege because I can change how I’m perceived and because being perceived as “white” I think also has to do with how fortunate you’ve assimilated. Like if you act “white” or are perceived as a good minority than white people like you more where as my parents will never have that privilege (even with my dad being lighter skinned) because he’s got an accent and grew up in a different culture area than I did. I got to be raised here.

It really does depend on how well you fit in but even with fitting it, as Latinos you’ll hear and even experience horrible things and it’s terrible. You’ll also see how people sometimes treat your family and it can hurt :(

Holy. Crap. I just found an email argument between me and some random internet person about evolution and creationism. Apparently I thought this was important enough to print out and save for TWENTY YEARS!!!

Cannot tell you how many times I’ve been on the phone with Hank and it’s clear he isn’t listening and then I say you’re not listening and then he says, “Hold on someone on the Internet is wrong about something.”

You just got reblogged and commented on by John Green! Be honored !

He’s…he’s my brother…

If a wizard watched Doctor Who and the Weeping Angels became their worst fear then they came across a Boggart and it changed into an Angel, and since whatever takes the image of an Angel becomes itself an Angel, would that bring Angels into existence in the Harry Potter universe?

Anxiety & unwanted thoughts are absolutely horrible to deal with, but I’m determined to beat them eventually. This is how I envision them - I suppose venting through drawing is one of my ways of coping with it.
